Everything about my New Vegas UI is working fine, except VATS font is black, and the hit percentage and enemy names are missing
I believe the issue began when I was messing with fallout.ini or falloutdefault.ini trying to install DARNui, project Nevada, and the MCM. I managed to run all three in the past but this time I got a couple conflicts while installing them and when I ran the game either the MCM or nevada wouldn't work, so I did the right thing. Deactivated them, googled the load order then rearranged it. When I ran the game after that everyhting was working fine until I tried to use VATS and it was broken. I'm pretty sure it was due to the .ini I edited so to be sure I uninstalled all my mods, deleted the .inis and checked local files on NV. Steam found and reacquired a couple files so I assumed those were the edited inis i deleted and I'd be running a vanilla game now. But when I ran it, no mods, clean files, VATS is still fucked.
Re-installing would probably fix the problem but I'd like to avoid that if possible, my download speeds are abysmal.
Did I somehow permanently edit the .ini and now steam won't acquire the original?

Version 2.5
- Mysterious Stranger and Miss Fortune now use custom weapons out of VATS, will dump any other weapons they may have picked up.
- Mysterious Stranger no longer instakills everything, can only kill one enemy per appearance if its HP is under 150.
- Miss Fortune uses an explosive gun ensuring it affects all enemies in the area every time she fires, will deal no damage to those she doesn't hit directly.
- Paralyzing Palm only works with power attacks so automatic weapons are always excluded, changed its restrictions to bare fists only, no bulky weapons (gauntlets, power fists...).
- Extra VATS buffs now can only increase damage of automatic melee weapons.
- Removed broken and kinda useless control key checkup, so no more annoying message when reloading.
- Patched Camarader-E perk to correctly detect Mojave ED-E companions when using the JIP CCC mod.
- Added new option for bullet-time to be active only while the selected key is held.

- Action Point calculations will now acknowledge any and all perks, no matter what mod they come from or how they change them.
- Fixed MCM menu.
- Added new option to apply some of the regular VATS mode bonuses while in bullet time.

- Changed their daily limit to appearances to the number of revolver cylinders they can fire per battle instead
- Their priority to get summoned is now random instead of the Stranger being checked first always
- Gave the Lonesome Road perk +10% accuracy out of VATS when having no companions
- Gave rank 5 of Camarader-E perk +5% accuracy out of VATS with an ED-E in your party
- Prevented AP drain timers from resetting when exiting bullet time
- Lowered the keypress delay timer so it should now be more responsive

- The Mysterious Stranger and Miss Fortune are now correctly set to respawn.
- The maximum daily appearances of the Mysterious Stranger and Miss Fortune can be configured in the MCM.
- Center of Mass is renamed to Duelist, and now increases draw speed and fire rate with revolvers.
- Hobbler's now increases damage to targets with crippled legs outside of VATS.
- Sniper increases critical hit chance and damage with scoped weapons outside of VATS.
- The slow motion effect will no longer interfere with other mods and the Turbo effect.
- Beautiful Beatdown, Trigger Discipline, Fast Shot, and Loose Cannon are properly accounted for, as is using no weapon at all.
- You can choose what weapons inflict the Paralysing Palm effect in the MCM menu. The options are Bare Fists Only, No Automatic Weapons (Industrial Fist), and All Unarmed Weapons.
