Raul Tejada is a ghoul mechanic enslaved as a radio technician on top of the Super Mutant stronghold Black Mountain. He heard the 'interesting' radio broadcasts coming from Black Mountain, and decided to inquire if they needed a technician. He was captured by Black Mountain's leader, the insane nightkin Tabitha, and was forced to slave away for months on end as the radio technician for the station. Raul is very eager to become the player's companion if he is rescued, but you have to fight a good amount of Super Mutants, Nightkin, and even Centaurs to get to the shack where he is working.

Raul's main weapon of choice is a .44 Magnum Revolver, which is very powerful in Raul's hands. The gun will never break nor run out of ammunition, making Raul something of a tank when equipped with powerful armor. If you prefer your companion to have melee abilities, Raul's weapon can be changed to a Lead Pipe, which without having much damage output, makes Raul fast and able to distract enemies.

Raul is equipped with a rare Petro-Chico jumpsuit when the player first meets him, which sports a very mechanic-y look, but has extremely low Damage Threshold. Raul works well with Combat or Recon armor, and can be turned into something of a tank when wearing powerful Power Armor.

Raul's personal quest, Old School Ghoul, has to do with Raul's depression and repressed feelings about his difficult life, and his belief that while he is a practically immortal ghoul, he is getting too old to be in battle any longer. Raul can be persuaded out of his depression by showing him other aging warriors that can rejuvinate his self-confidence. The reward for this quest is an increase in Raul's damage and health, and an awesome new Vaquero outfit for him.
