This issue may occur due to High Definition audio codecis not installed in the computer.
For now try the steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
Method 1:
Please try the following steps to enable the stereo mix and check if that help.
- Right click on the audio icon in your system tray and select “Recording Devices” to open the Recording device settings in the “Sound” window.
- In the pane, right-click on a blank area, and make sure both “View Disabled Devices” and “View Disconnected Devices” options are checked. You should be able to see the “Stereo Mix” option appearing.
- Right-click on “Stereo Mix” and click “Enable” to be able to use it.
This should enable the “Stereo Mix” on Windows 8 and if the issue still persist try method 2.
Method 2.
I suggest you to install High Definition audio codec, installing codec may resolve the issue. Visit the below link to download and install the codec.
