Fallout 2 Marcus Armor

For Fallout 2 on the PC, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'Recommended NPC Companions?' It's very balanced and realistic to keep in line with the lore of Fallout 2. Gangster Suit is almost same armor class like Leather Jacket, just little bit weaker protection, but slightly good threshold against bullets. This armor is mostly for cosmetic and nice looking character that fit for New Reno.

Hallo, Zombie ere.
Since downloading the Tactics Power Armor recently, I thought the classic Combat Armorwould be a Shout in the right direction.
Just a few Pics + Descriptions on the F01+2 Combat Armors:
Fallout 1 + 2 Combat guy/girl image
Combat armor was designed to sheath the human body as completely as possible in high durability armor. The primary skin of combat armor is composed of complex polymers and ceramics. This hard armor was manufactured as specific plates. The plates were manufactured with a matte-finish olive drab coloring suitable for woodland camouflage. These plates are affixed to a flexible body suit interwoven with thermal-dissipative membranes and bulletproof material.
The torso is covered by the primary armor assembly, including a split breastplate, pauldrons, gorget, and abdominal ring. The sleeves of the body suit are full sleeves, and include armor plate protection for the upper and lower arms, as well as gloves. The lower body is protected by woven trousers and incorporate no hard armor, save armored boots. In the interests of comfort and maneuverability, the armor encasing the foot and lower leg is articulated, not sealed. While this permits longer wear times and more comfortable and sure footing, it compromises the armor integrity. Consequently, water and other liquids can enter the armor and affect the user.
A helmet completes the ensemble. In most pre-War variants, the helmet is a ballistic assembly, designed to protect the wearer from projectile and energy weapon impacts, bladed weapons, blunt trauma, and concussion. An integrated polarized visor protects the user's eyes from the ordinary battlefield hazards of grit and dust, but also laser blindness and fragments. Helmets also incorporate a combination camera/laser rangefinder unit built into the helmet's right side, just above the ear. Those suits of combat armor surviving in the wasteland still have the housing for that equipment, but no suit has been documented as having working hardware. After the Great War, simpler helmets without the additional equipment are also common. It was common to see the US Army with this armor in many places. In Alaska, the US Army could be seen with winterized combat armor.
The combination armor layers of a suit of adequately-maintained combat armor conferred to the wearer significant protection against most types of damage, including laser, plasma, and blast damage - uncommon for personal armor. Yet, it did so without the extreme weight inherent in most battle armor systems of the 20th and 21st centuries. Combat armor provided outstanding protection at comparatively low weight but high comfort levels.
(note that there is recent info reguarding the fo3 armors but these to my knowledge was the original idea behind the combat armor with sleves a Helmet with tinted Visor + intergrated satchel for increased weight and a belt with pockets etc to carry stimpaks, pistol ammo clips, first aid etc.)
Original Combat Armor Pic
The basic version, as described above. (Fallout 1 - 2) Helmet with Visor, integrated Statchel type backpack, belt with pockets to store small items e.g stimpaks, pistol ammo cips, first aid, holsters etc
Combat Armor Mrk II Fallout 2
Combat Armor Mark II is slightly more durable than standard combat armor, providing modestly greater protection against all forms of damage. It is distinguishable from standard Combat Armor by the bronze tone of the gorget.
Brotherhood Veriation Fallout 1 + 2
The Brotherhood of Steel has also developed their own improvement on Combat Armor. Called, creatively, Brotherhood Armor, this version boasts significantly improved defensive ratings in all forms of damage. However, this armor did not see widespread use as its holdings were zealously restricted to the ranks of the Brotherhood and those who had been of unique assistance to the Brotherhood. Its distinguishing marks includes pale green/grey coloring of the armor panels, blue trim on the chest armor panels, a brilliant silver gorget and under-armor breastplate, and pronounced riveting on the pauldrons.
Advertisment poster from the canced Fallout d20 but its got a Much, Much better idea what it would look like closely

dialogue

Marcus is the elderly super mutant sheriff of Broken Hills in 2241 and mayor of Jacobstown in 2281. A survivor of the Master's army, his once fervent dedication to the Master's cause has since softened into a more tolerant attitude.

BackgroundEdit

After the Master's defeat, Marcus wandered aimlessly, looking for fellow super mutants. In the year 2185, at high noon, he encountered a Brotherhood of SteelPaladin in power armor named Jacob, who had pledged himself to the extermination of all mutants. They fought for days with guns and fists, but eventually gave up, each unable to get an advantage over the other. Eventually, they realized the pointlessness of their fight, and broke down in joined laughter, beginning a strong friendship between them. The two started traveling together, arguing over the Unity and Brotherhood doctrine and whether or not the Master could truly neurolink his biology into the Cathedral computer network. As they wandered through the wastes, they attracted a following of other refugees from the war, who believed that Marcus's strength and Jacob's power armor gave them the closest thing available to safety. In Fall of the same year, Marcus and Jacob, along with the trail of ghouls, humans, and super mutants, founded the community of Broken Hills.

After the Chosen One helped him expose an anti-mutant conspiracy in Broken Hills, Marcus joined him on his quest to find the Garden of Eden Creation Kit, and eventually to save the people of Arroyo from the Enclave. When the group's task was complete, Marcus returned to Broken Hills and watched over the town until the uranium mine ran dry and the place, no longer having an economic foundation, was deserted by its inhabitants.

As his position as sheriff of Broken Hills had outlived itself, Marcus, inspired by the example set by the Chosen One, started wandering east, across the great mountains, in search of other super mutants. He never found out what happened to his tribal friend from Arroyo, but he had a feeling that he did good in the end.

Marcus eventually reached the Mojave Wasteland, where he founded a community for super mutants atop Black Mountain. This fell apart when Tabitha, an insane nightkin, rallied the less intelligent Enclave-created mutants against Marcus and forced him and his supporters out of the area. By 2281, Marcus had found Mount Charleston, where he founded yet another safe haven for mutants, naming it Jacobstown in honor of his old friend. At Jacobstown, Marcus helps and protects schizophrenic nightkin, and hopes to find a cure with the help of former Enclave scientist Doctor Henry. Marcus will also greet the Courier and warn them about the nightkin within Jacobstown when the Courier enters Jacobstown for the first time.

QuestsEdit

  • Find the missing people for Marcus: Marcus has noticed people disappearing from Broken Hills lately. He wants you to find them.

Effects of player's actionsEdit

  • Marcus can join the Chosen One after completing these quests:
    • any of:
      • Snitch on conspirators in Break Manson and Franc out of prison
      • Snitch on conspirators in Blow up the mine's air purifier
    • A positive Karma is also required

He is skilled with big guns and large energy weapons. However, sometimes his use of burst weapons are as devastating to the team as to enemies. Also, like all other super mutants (barring those in Fallout Tactics), he is incapable of wearing armor which leaves him somewhat vulnerable. However, Marcus does have innate armor statistics that increase as he gains in abilities, thus mitigating his inability to equip armor. At his highest level, he has the equivalent of a suit of combat armor. The ammunition for his big guns can be a problem, too. This can be dealt with by arming him with a non-burst weapon like a turbo plasma rifle.

  • Having Marcus in company will generally deny the Chosen One's entry into the inner sections of Vault City (though not the southern courtyard), so he has to be left outside and picked up on the way out. Becoming Captain of the Guard lets the Chosen One pass the guards, First CitizenJoanne Lynette however, will not be too pleased, resulting in exilation.
    • Should the Chosen One be accompanied by Lenny and Marcus at the same time, Marcus will occasionally say things like 'Nice to have another evolved human in the group, Lenny', 'Hey Lenny! Ever been to Broken Hills?' and 'Lenny! Let's get somethin' to drink!', indicating that the two have known each other in the past, or simply that Marcus considers their shared mutant status confers on them a brotherhood of sorts.

Other interactionsEdit

  • Taking him to Troy in Vault City to be healed will get him purged of the various bullets embedded in his thick skin, which Troy will then give to the Chosen One. Giving 20 7.62mm, 40 .44 Magnum JHP & FMJ, 50 5mm JHP, 10 .45 caliber, 24 10mm JHP, 50 .223 FMJ, and 20 9mm ball. He has been shot by a lot of people. Note that this can only be done as Captain of the Guard, otherwise Troy will go hostile for someone bringing a mutant into the city.

Fallout: New CaliforniaEdit

The following is based on content from Fallout: New California and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

Marcus can be found randomly when taking a card from the loot deck. When the player character has him as the active companion and performs a test that uses Strength, Endurance, or Intelligence, he can be exhausted to gain one hit on the test.

When the player character performs the camp action, he will become unexhausted. However, if the player character does not have at least three SPECIAL tokens at this time, he must be discarded.

NotesEdit

  • In Fallout: New Vegas, Marcus is one of the only characters outside Caesar's Legion (along with Easy Pete, Follows-Chalk and Salt-Upon-Wounds), to pronounce Caesar /ˈkaisar/ - in the classical Latin pronunciation - rather than /ˈsiːzər/, the morphed Zar pronunciation.
  • Marcus in Fallout: New Vegas has a unique face compared to other super mutants, as he is the only one in the game not to wear a leather facial brace to hold up his lips.
  • In Fallout: New Vegas, Marcus may eventually die due to random cazador attacks on Jacobstown.
  • In Fallout: New Vegas, Marcus is the only character with only one tag skill.
  • Marcus is one of the most intelligent super mutants in the Fallout franchise. He is able to speak fluent English and would rather reason than fight.

AppearancesEdit

Marcus appears as a companion and a talking head in Fallout 2, and in Fallout: New Vegas as a non-player character. He is voiced by Michael Dorn in both. He is mentioned in Fallout Bible.

Behind the scenesEdit

Fallout 2 Can Marcus Wear Armor

Fallout 2Edit

  • While Marcus says that he is no longer sterile, Chris Avellone, who wrote that dialogue, confirmed that Marcus was only joking and that super mutants remain entirely sterile.
  • During combat, if Marcus is hit by an enemy weapon, he may occasionally cry out, 'I am NOT a merry Mutant!' This is a reference to Michael Dorn's role as Worf on Star Trek: The Next Generation, specifically the episode 'Qpid', in which Worf protested to being given the role of a 'merry man' in Q's Robin Hood recreation.
  • Marcus might say when unarmed and attacking: 'one fist, two fist, red fist, blue fist.' This is a reference to the Dr. Seuss book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

Fallout: New VegasEdit

  • Marcus was written by Jeff Husges, basing on the character dialogue in Fallout 2.[1]
